Job Details/Qualifications
Position Summary: The full time seasonal groundskeeper performs routine manual labor involved in golf course maintenance from late spring until early fall, including maintenance work, operation of small hand-powered equipment and some other motorized equipment (golf cart, and turf equipment).
Duties/ Responsibilities:
- Mows lawns, trims weeds/grass, and rakes leaves, or debris as assigned.
- Picks up and removes trash prior to mowing a designated area.
- Empties trash and recycling containers.
- Prepares soil and plants flowers, bushes, hedges, or shrubs. Weeding flower beds
- Performs other related duties as assigned, such as:
- Replace all divots
- Blow debris with backpack or hand blowers
- Edge bunkers, curbs and gardens with weed whip
- Help with general course cleanup
- Assist as directed on aerating days
- Assist as directed on construction projects that involve sodding and seeding
- Clean machines daily after use
- Use all equipment in a safe and responsible manner as outlined in the Health and Safety manual
- Fill out a job sheet at the end of each day
- Complete maintenance and construction duties as directed
Required Skills/Abilities:
- Ability to operate various types of power equipment including lawnmowers, trimmers, hedge trimmers, leaf blowers, and other turf equipment.
- Ability to use hand tools required for landscaping.
- Ability to follow instructions and complete assignments.
- Excellent time management skills.
- Reliable and predictable attendance
- Ability to develop and maintain awareness of occupational hazards and safety precautions; skilled in following safety practices and recognizing hazards.
Education and Experience:
- High school diploma or equivalent preferred.
- Previous experience preferred.
- On-the-job training offered.
- Require G2 or G Ontario Drivers’ License
Physical Requirements:
- Prolonged periods walking, standing, bending, stretching, pushing, pulling, or kneeling.
- Must be physically able to operate power equipment.
- Must be able to lift up to 50 pounds at a time.
- Must be able to work in a variety of weather conditions. The employee is regularly exposed to wet and/or humid conditions, outside weather conditions, extreme cold, and extreme heat. The employee is occasionally exposed to moving mechanical parts; fumes or airborne particles; and vibration. The noise level in the work environment is usually moderate.
