Job Title: Kitchen Support Staff
Department: Kitchen: Back of House
Department Head: Director, Food & Beverage
Reporting To: Kitchen Manager
Job Summary:
The Kitchen Support Staff plays a vital role in the success of our kitchen operations, performing a variety of tasks to support food preparation, cleanliness, and overall kitchen efficiency. This flexible position requires adaptability, teamwork, and a commitment to maintaining high standards of food quality, hygiene, and organization. Responsibilities will vary daily and may include salad preparation, dishwashing, and general kitchen support tasks.
Responsibilities:
**Dishwashing and Cleaning**
- Wash dishes, utensils, pots, and pans using manual or automatic dishwashing equipment.
- Sanitize all items and store them in designated areas.
- Clean and maintain dishwashing stations, kitchen equipment, and floors.
- Dispose of trash and kitchen waste within sanitation guidelines.
**Kitchen Support and Organization**
- Monitor stock levels, rotate inventory, and restock stations with necessary supplies.
- Maintain cleanliness and organization of workstations and storage areas.
- Follow food safety and sanitation regulations, including proper handling of perishable items and cleaning chemicals.
- Assist with basic food prep tasks, such as peeling or chopping vegetables, when needed.
**Food Preparation**
- Prepare menu items, including salads, according to recipes and standards.
- Wash, chop, slice, and store ingredients to ensure freshness and quality.
-Assist with mise en place and other prep work to support the kitchen team.
**Team Collaboration**
- Communicate effectively with supervisors and team members to ensure smooth workflow.
- Support other kitchen staff in prioritizing tasks and meeting service goals.
Qualifications:
- Previous kitchen experience is an asset
- Willingness to learn
- Strong attention to detail and commitment to cleanliness and food safety standards.
- Physical stamina to stand for long periods and lift heavy objects.
- Ability to work efficiently in a fast-paced environment.
- Excellent communication and teamwork skills.
- Flexibility to work evenings, weekends, and holidays.
Physical Demands:
- Ability to stand for extended periods, often for the duration of a shift.
- Frequent walking, bending, and reaching to access ingredients, equipment, and workstations.
- Regular lifting and carrying of items up to 50 pounds, including food supplies and equipment.
- Working in a hot, fast-paced kitchen environment with exposure to ovens, stoves, and other high-temperature equipment.
- Manual dexterity for chopping, cutting, plating, and other food preparation tasks.
- Stamina to handle long shifts, particularly during busy service periods or events.
Hours:
Restaurant Guest Hours are: 11:00 am to 9:00 pm
Kitchen Support Staff hours can range from: 6:00 am to Midnight
Days, Evenings, Weekends, Holidays
