Assistant Golf Course Superintendent

The assistant golf course superintendent reports directly to the golf course superintendent. Under the superintendent's supervision, the assistant superintendent directs and participates in all areas and aspects of golf course maintenance. The assistant superintendent may serve in the superintendent's capacity during his/her absence.

This work may include but not limited to:
- Equipment operation
- Bunker maintenance and renovation
- Irrigation troubleshooting, repair, and scheduling
- Drainage maintenance
- Applying fertilizing and soil amendments
- Calibrating spray equipment and applying pesticides
- Assisting with scheduling personnel
- Instructing operators on proper procedures and safety
- Performing turf cultural practices
- Performing and directing renovation tasks

Skills required:
- Working knowledge of the maintenance of golf course tees, fairways and greens
- Ability to help schedule and supervise maintenance work to achieve the most efficient utilization of workers and equipment
- Maintain effective employee and public relations.
- Irrigation repair and knowledge of irrigation scheduling
- Possession of a valid driver's license.
- Have or obtain a BC pesticide applicator certificate - Landscape
- Diploma or equivalent experience in turf grass management
- Equipment maintenance experience is an asset, but not required
- Ability to ask for help when required.
- Able to perform physical tasks including lifting objects up to 50lbs

Salary & Benefits:
Wage range of $29-32/hour depending on experience/qualifications
